I pulled off the cover and slid in the drive. Then I plugged it in and seconds later was scanning the laptop hard drive that had been sitting in a dead computer for over a year! Found all the pictures and documents I thought would never be recovered! Awesome!! Highly recommended!a

I have come across various 2.5 Inch Hard Drive Enclosures in the past and while all were good this one is by far the best why?[+] Fast data transfer speeds while connected to USB 3.0 port[+] No drivers needed recognizes your HDD without any fuss[+] No tools needed to install the HDD[+] No fear that the cable will come loose from the External HDD as it comes Integrate with 1.6FT Cable[+] If you install SSD in this, the speed of SSD plus USB 3.0 speed makes it as fast as Laptop’s internal HDD[-] No cooling or heat dissipation possible for installed HDD as this is *ALL* plastic enclosure.I cannot find anything wrong or bad in this other than one minor issue listed above. Price is very competitive for an excellent 2.5 Inch Hard Drive Enclosure. I have no reason to rate it below 5 stars!

I got this UGREEN 2.5 Inch Hard Drive Enclosure Integrate with 1.6FT Cable, Tool-Free SATA to USB 3.0 to put a spare 1tb laptop hard drive in. I was very happy to have it actually work with a spinning drive as most of these do not have enough voltage to drive an actual HDD. Transfer speeds seemed just fine and the tray feels very secure and in no danger of accidentally opening up and letting the drive fall out. For $10 at the time of review, this enclosure is awesome.

The UGREEN 2.5 INCH HARD DRIVE USB 3.0 ENCLOSURE is nicely built with an integrated cable so you don’t lose it. I also found this model to hold the drives even more firmly than previous UGREEN models. This makes them especially nice for spinning HDD.NOTE: This model (UGREEN 2.5 INCH HARD DRIVE USB 3.0 ENCLOSURE) is 3.0 not 3.1 which means it is 5Gb not 10Gb / second. I did not catch this at first, so at first I was confused why my testing was only getting about 415MB/s instead of the usual 550MB/s with my SSD drive. However, if you are only using spinning disk (HDD) then it does not matter as they can’t reach 5Gb speeds anyway. So, you might as well save a few dollars on a 3.0 enclosure over a comparable 3.1 enclosure.MY NEEDS:• A quality enclosure for my spare drives for local backups.• Tool-less enclosure to make it easier to rotate drives in/out• A quality brand name to trust my dataSETUP:For the UGREEN 2.5 INCH HARD DRIVE USB 3.0 ENCLOSURE you just slide back the cover, and insert the drive, then connect it all to your computer. On windows, you might have to run partition manager to delete the prior partitions (if you don’t want to keep the data), and then create and format a new partition before you can use (or see) the drive on your PC. In my case, the drives I used were coming from old work laptops that were protected with Microsoft bitlocker, so I had to delete the partitions before I could see the drives.RECOMMENDATION:I recommend the UGREEN 2.5 INCH HARD DRIVE USB 3.0 ENCLOSURE especially if you need an enclosure for spinning disk (HDD) or don’t have USB 3.1 ports for faster than 5Gb/s transfer rates.
